The history of BUGIN: the bridge between different worlds
The career of Mauro Schiavo, creator of BUGIN, developed first in the world of mixology and then in the butchery sector, starting in 2007, together with his mother Carla, the first butcher's shop a few steps from Turin.
One of the butcher shops opened subsequently, TASTA, which opened its doors in 2017 in San Mauro Torinese, has become a point of reference for those looking for the highest quality meat and local products. TASTA is also part of the Masters of Taste of Turin and its province, a certification that testifies to our continuous search for quality and authenticity.
Mauro wanted to create a gastronomic experience that could combine the worlds of barbecue, mixology and cooking. Thus the BUGIN project was born.
BUGIN: the meeting between mixology, cuisine and barbecue
In 2018 we launched our Gin BUGIN, an exclusive distillate that tells the story of our land through a selection of highly prized botanicals. The name BUGIN comes from the Piedmontese dialect, in which "bocin" means veal, symbol of our tradition. Right from the start, I wanted to use BUGIN Gin not only as a base for cocktails, but also as an ingredient in the kitchen, to enhance the flavors of meat, cured meats and dishes prepared on the barbecue.
We thus created a line of gin cured meats, which is still unique on the market. The idea of ​​combining the tradition of Piedmontese cured meats with the modernity of gin has given life to a unique proposal, which challenges the boundaries of traditional cuisine and brings a breath of freshness and innovation to every dish.
In 2024 we then launched two limited editions of BUGIN Gin: the Barrique Old Tom ex Vermouth and the Barrique ex Thyme, distillates that rest in oak barrels, acquiring unique flavors and aromas that can be appreciated in every single sip.
But we never stop. From these barrels, we have also created smoking chunks, which give a special aroma to barbecued meat, elevating each dish with an exclusive touch.

Cocktail Rubs: our Cocktail Rub is the first mix that combines the world of mixology with that of barbecue. Cocktail BBQ Sauces: Our BBQ sauces aren't just any sauces. Inspired by cocktails, these sauces combine the finest herbs, spices and fresh ingredients to add a special touch to any barbecue. You can buy our sauces and bring some BUGIN to your home.
Cocktail Jellies: another new product that will surprise you are our cocktail-flavored jellies. Six different flavours, each designed to accompany a different cheese, for a unique pairing experience.
